Raha Behnam

Raha is an Iranian-born, Canadian-raised, US-based artist; a first-generation immigrant to occupied Indigenous homelands. She is the daughter of Iranian artists Darab Behnam Shabahang and Mahvash Vatankhahi.
Her performance work has been presented in New York City at Danspace Project (Food for Thought), Para\\el Performance Lab, The Wild Project (the CURRENT SESSIONS), and the Knockdown Center (Sunday Service). She has also shown work at the Performance Studies international 2017 conference (Hamburg), FRESH Festival (San Francisco), and Figure One Gallery (Illinois).
Raha is a member of the Future Historical Society, lead by Yazmany Arboleda, an inter-generational collective of Brooklyn residents, and also a member of the Undoing & Doing Collective, instigated by Lorene Bouboushian.   She has performed in the works of Abby Crain, Tino Seghal, Jessie Young, and most recently, Hadar Ahuvia. Raha holds a Master’s in Urban Planning and Bachelor’s degrees in Dance and Anthropology.
