Specifically designed for those with a foundation in SRT and/or OSF, this intensive is a rare opportunity to deepen one’s practice through the more advanded material from the basic releasing work – week 2 & 3 – and to expand this into creative process. Each day will comprise a 2.5 hour releasing class, alternating daily betwen SRT and OSF, followed by a 75-minute integration of this material with improvisation, voice work, and writing and drawing practices.

In essence it is an advanced course: more an in-depth study than simply a series of classes. In order to begin an Open Source Forms Teacher Certification Program in Europe in 2017, we’re offering this workshop so enough people can complete the prerequisites for this rigorous & gratifying teacher training.

Of course if you’re not planning to do OSF Teacher Certification, you’re very welcome to join — & move deeper & farther on your path within this work.

Prerequisites for this workshop are having experienced at least a week of Open Source Forms or Skinner Releasing.

July 20 – 24, 2015

PLACES STILL OPEN!
Mon – Fri:

Working with SCORES as a rich way to find unique content, method, and structures. With deep foundational releasing to warm body, voice, and flow of ideas, and access our subconscious as fertile source of material & guidance. Investigating paths between moving, writing, speaking, drawing and vocalizing — juicy ways to find personal content & structure that’s fresh, relevant & free of inhibition. Trusting our inner world, accessing technique as resource and finding the courage to transcend it — in presence, vulnerability, and ideological freedom. This class was developed in response to a need to take the next step from deeply-sourced improvisation to repeatable performance events, & discover what to take with us from one rehearsal to the next.

About Ponderosa: Ponderosa welcomes international guests and artists to their studios located on 5.5 hectares of an old farm outside Berlin in the Brandenburg region of Germany. Our main purpose is to create an International meeting space in the countryside outside of Berlin. We come from wide ranging backgrounds, but share a common experience of embracing the arts, living on a broken down farm and encouraging an event that inspires people’s creative sources and gives them a place to enact their own desires and visions. We depend on the form of improvisation to help create structures &  solutions. We are a team of organizers, teachers, builders, performers, artists, cultural managers, producers & hosts. Our goal is to bring  uniqueness, clear thought and spontaneous action to our yearly festival while remaining intact as a self-sufficient group and as a building community.

Focusing on all aspects of the term improvisation, we hope to give room to our visitors to participate on many levels. There is enough open space at Ponderosa to extend your mental and physical potentials into your wildest dreams.

Ponderosa is a place of constant sourcing of the theories & practices behind performance. It’s a place to come out, to show your beginnings. It’s a place to trust non-goal oriented processes. It’s an International meeting space for the living library of thoughts & ideas that are mixed within the free scene and the professional art world.

Co-curator Maria Scaroni: “Ponderosa has been hosting dance since 11 years, developing a more and more welcoming infrastructure,  in the middle of the Brandenburg countryside, the deep ex East-germany, by the polish border. It is actually only 1 hour trip from Berlin. Stephanie Maher brought this place up and with it her lineage and relations with north american dance, especially very socially and physically engaged people and works from San Francisco. So the core DNA of the place is quite physical, it offers a big barn and other spaces turned into studios, a forest, a river, a sauna, a garden that produces vegetables for the entire summer for everybody. All that over layered with a really cool way of dealing with communal living (meaning that it is not some politically correct community, though people need to understand togetherness, the land, logistics), a living library and a juicy exchange with Berlin based artists, for performances, lectures, just hang out zone, where quite rich encounters and conversations take place. “

Stephanie Skura developed Open Source Forms (OSF) after 12 years working closely with Skinner Releasing (SRT) creator Joan Skinner. OSF is about cross-fertilizations and deep commonalities of Skinner Releasing and creative process: shedding outer layers, finding primal energy, agility navigating subconscious realms, and imagery as powerful tool for transformation. Taking time for depth of technique to catalyze creative work, these sessions offer tools to access freedom, specificity, and courage in movement, vocal practice and performance. They empower participants to adapt these methods and discover their own.

Afternoon sessions will focus on sophisticated improvisational tools for finding freedom, rigor, & specificity of movement that’s as unique & multi-layered as our individual life experience. These sessions often integrate writing, drawing, & voice to access the richness of our subconscious, & a free & responsive improvisational presence. Over the past thirty years, Stephanie has developed a precise, supportive, empowering, freeing & challenging progression of classes to empower performers in the improvisational moment: rooted in a conscious specificity, free of inhibition, accessing the intuitive & the subconscious, & inviting the mind to participate in a collaborative way. Her approach derives from her rehearsal process, celebrating the power, totality, & uniqueness of each performer. She has a passion for collaboration at every level, feels it as much a political as an artistic choice, & finds that collaborative process nurtures growth of all participants.. Open to all levels of experience in any art form.
