Pulling from their practices of Open Source Forms and Action Theater™, Susanna Hood and Sarah Bild will guide us through physical and sensory awakening of the body/mind to prepare us for creative practice. Inviting breath and imagery into the physical self, we will open ourselves to our physical and metaphorical environment and practice noticing, tending to and following creative impulses as they arise, opening a dialogue between inner experience and outer awareness. How does one impulse invite another? How do we give shape to those impulses? How do we embody them for full expression? How do we frame them in space and time? These are questions we will investigate and experience in the afternoon hours.

These sessions are inclusive, welcoming & vitally useful for both newcomers to the practice & experienced practitioners. OSF is deeply rooted in & fluidly expanded from Skinner Releasing Technique. We integrate introductory OSF with improvisational experiments developed by Skura over three decades of interdisciplinary choreographic research.
Cost: €150 or €120 if full payment received by 20 November, 2019.
(Participants need to begin on Day 1 & attend consecutive days. Drop-ins OK only with significant experience in OSF or SRT)
Deeply rooted in & fluidly expanded from Skinner Releasing Technique (SRT), OSF involves shedding outer layers, accessing primal energy, agility navigating subconscious realms, imagery as potent tool for transformation, & developing a high degree of consciousness without self-consciousness. This work celebrates diversity, collaboration & individual empowerment: free of inhibition, accessing intuition, inviting the mind to collaborate. OSF sessions offer potent tools to access freedom, specificity & courage in movement, vocal practice & creative practice. A key aspect is individual creative empowerment as an instigator of positive change on the planet.
“Working with you creatively has instigated some of the most juicy & inspiring dancing times of my life… Offers the range from physical to embodied intellectual to creative composition…So much care & respect for the people with whom you share the learning space.” (OSF Participants)

In this five-morning workshop, Susanna offers introductory level OSF material in combination with improvisation structures using movement, voice, drawing, and writing.
The nature of the working process is web-like, cumulative and will happen in layers with no two days exactly the same. Each session is unique and draws on modalities of touch, deep-state imagery, alignment-focused exercises, and scores for improvisation. The sessions promote experiential learning, allowing for the timing of each individual’s process of discovery and integration, working both together and alone but in community. In this way, people of all levels of experience can explore alongside each other, tailoring the work to their individual capacities and needs.
Depending on the interest of participants and guided by their individual experience within the classes, one or two of the sessions may include in-depth discussion into essential concepts and pedagogical principals of OSF.
The class is open to adults of all ages, performers and non-performers alike.

Specifically designed for those with a foundation in SRT and/or OSF, this intensive is a rare opportunity to deepen one’s practice through the more advanded material from the basic releasing work – week 2 & 3 – and to expand this into creative process. Each day will comprise a 2.5 hour releasing class, alternating daily betwen SRT and OSF, followed by a 75-minute integration of this material with improvisation, voice work, and writing and drawing practices.
In essence it is an advanced course: more an in-depth study than simply a series of classes. In order to begin an Open Source Forms Teacher Certification Program in Europe in 2017, we’re offering this workshop so enough people can complete the prerequisites for this rigorous & gratifying teacher training.
Of course if you’re not planning to do OSF Teacher Certification, you’re very welcome to join — & move deeper & farther on your path within this work.
Prerequisites for this workshop are having experienced at least a week of Open Source Forms or Skinner Releasing.
